Throw
the Rascals Out
| The
stealth land re-assessment / tax hike was the
crowning achievement of an ethically challenged
Gilmore administration and Council Democrats.
Let's throw the rascals out November 4th. |
Twenty
six (26) of the Townships 66 voting districts had their
property value secretly re-assessed two years ago
effectively raising taxes between 10% and 15% in these
districts (see map below). Mayor Glen Gilmore
is still dishonestly trumpeting how he kept tax
rates steady over the last two years. Whether the tax
rate in the last two years stayed the same or not, substantially
re-assessing land values higher is the same as a tax
increases. The fact that it was done without any notice
and has still not been publicly acknowledged by this
administration can only mean that they had hoped nobody
would notice until after the election.
The
highlighted areas of the map to the right are the voting
districts that the administration of current Mayor Glen
Gilmore secretly raised land assessments. This type
of selective re-assessment was illegal in the state
of New Jersey as little as two years ago. In 2001 the
McGreevey administration gave the okay for municipalities
to selectively re-assess property values even though
every town in New Jersey had recently had township wide
re-assessments.
While land values have gone up township wide the Gilmore
administration decided to put the whole burden of the
secret land re-assessment on the 26 voting districts
highlighted in yellow. Click on the map to get a
close up view of the map and see first hand whether
you were affected by this tax increase or not. Mayor
Gilmore and the Democrats on Township Council may not
have broken the law, but they sure broke every acceptable
standard of ethics with this money-grubbing scheme.
Please help us get rid of this deceitful government
by voting to "throw the rascals out" on Tuesday,
November 4.
